Evans Inc Named to 2012 Inc. 500|5000 Fastest-Growing Companies

For second straight year, Evans Incorporated is honored by Inc. magazine’s annual exclusive list, moving up in its ranking from 2112 to 1311 in 2012.

Falls Church, Virginia – September 1, 2012

For the second straight year, Evans Incorporated has been named to the Inc. 500|5000 list of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies. Inc. magazine ranked Evans Incorporated as No. 1311 on the sixth annual Inc. 500|5000, an exclusive ranking that represents the most comprehensive look at the most important segment of the economy—America’s independent entrepreneurs. Evans, a management consulting firm that helps clients reach maximum effectiveness through managed change involving processes, systems and people, joins the rarified company of enterprises that have appeared on the list multiple times, many of which have grown to become national icons.

“Evans Incorporated is proud to be named to the prestigious Inc. 500|5000 list for the second consecutive year, and we are honored to be ranked in the same company as some of the country’s most successful and innovative businesses,” said Susan Evans, President and CEO of Evans Incorporated. “Staying true to our pillars of client service has enabled us to grow while helping clients manage change.  Evans believes it’s people, not systems, that will ultimately achieve great outcomes – and that’s why we are passionate about building environments where people are excited about collaborating, innovating, and having an impact.”

The 2012 Inc. 500|5000 was ranked according to percentage revenue growth when comparing 2008 to 2011. Evans experienced significant revenue growth of more than 236 percent between 2008 and 2011, and saw its number of employees grow nearly 129 percent. The company is headquartered in Falls Church, Va., and previously made the list in 2011.

The achievement places Evans among an elite group of companies including Unified Payments, which topped this year’s Inc. 500|5000 list, as well as Yelp, yogurt maker Chobani, GiftCards.com, KIND, and famed hatmaker Tilly’s, among other prominent brands.

The median growth rate of 2012 Inc. 500|5000 companies remained at an impressive 97 percent. The companies featured on this year’s list reported having created more than 400,000 jobs in the past three years, and aggregate revenue among the honorees reached $299 billion.

“Now more than ever, we depend on Inc. 500|5000 companies to spur innovation, provide jobs, and drive the economy forward. Growth companies, not large corporations, are where the action is,” said Inc. magazine Editor Eric Schurenberg.

Evans CEO in Smart CEO Magazine: Importance of Vision

Evans CEO and founder Sue Evans is featured in the October 2012 issue of SmartCEO magazine and highlights the significance of vision:

“I’m sort of a latecomer to the idea of vision.  It used to make me kind of cringe.  We’ve done a number of employee surveys, and the thing that keeps coming out is that they need to understand what the vision is.  It has to be what characterizes what we are, who we are, and what’s different about us.  I know we need to do that.  The lack of vision has been the missing piece.  It’s what I want to insert in there so we can focus on really defining who we are.  Obviously, the vision changes.  The thing that is most important around it is that we be constantly and consistently communicating it.  We want to make sure that not only our employees but our clients have a sense of what that vision is.  When we’re trying to decide whether to invest in this initiative or that initiative, we have to go back and say, “Is that going to help us reach this goal to transform the consulting model?”

Sue Evans’ insights on growth and SECAF

Over 70% year-to-year revenue growth for two consecutive years.  Over 80% repeat clientele. Award winning professional-development culture.  A growing team of trusted advisors delivering remarkable service to clients.  These statements highlight just a few pieces of the Evans experience.  These results do not come by chance, however.  At Evans, we not only help our clients grow their organizations, we dedicate ourselves to learning and growing our own organization as well.  For example, we are active members of the Small and Emerging Contractors Advisory Forum (SECAF), where we gain education, resources, and advocacy as a growing company.

We engage with SECAF and our peer contractors to improve our ability to adapt to the changes happening with our clients, specifically the Federal Government.  We exchange cutting edge ideas and methodologies about change, leadership, and high-performance organizations in their educational forums.  Through their networking forum, we build relationships and form complementary partnerships with other firms so we can create even more robust service packages for clients.  In the advisory forum, we engage with other contractors to learn best practices, challenge our own ways of thinking, and further refine the service that we deliver to clients.

We are honored to be selected as a 2012 Finalist for SECAF’s Contractor of the Year – an award that recognizes our ongoing commitment our clients, our people, and our community.
