The Award-Winning Human-Centered Solutions Consulting Firm Teams Again with Kick for Nick to Benefit Underprivileged Children Worldwide
FALLS CHURCH, VIRGINIA – May 26, 2017 – Evans Incorporated, the leading provider of Human-Centered organizational and operational consulting solutions, is excited to announce the success of its 2nd Annual Kickball Tournament, which took place Friday May, 19th at Olney Park in Falls Church, VA, benefiting the Kick for Nick Charity. This year’s event raised a total of $2,260 in donations – that’s enough for 113 soccer balls!
The tournament featured two teams of Evans’ employees, ‘Kicking Grass’ and ‘Pitches Be Crazy,’ in a fun-filled day, also consisting of a Home Run Derby, a 5-inning kickball game, and a post-game BBQ. For this event, now in its second year, Evans combined the day’s activities with a Congressional Research Initiative (CRI) to raise funds to allow Kick for Nick to continue its important work. Evans team members collected funds through this event to purchase as many balls – which cost $20 each- as possible to benefit Kick for Nick. Additionally, the staff was able to have fun, further a great cause, and make memories together on a beautiful Friday afternoon.
Kick for Nick, founded in memory and honor of PFC Nicholas A. Madaras of Wilton, CT, killed by an IED in Iraq, on September 3rd, 2006, strives to foster peace and stability across the globe by sharing the joy of soccer. The organization delivers the gift of soccer balls to underprivileged children worldwide in honor of Madaras, who was an avid soccer player himself, as well as a coach and referee. In his time in Iraq he observed the talents of local children for the sport, and felt an instinctive desire to distribute balls to nurture their love of the game. Sadly, he never got the chance to fully realize his dream. Now the organization also distributes uniforms, cleats, shin guards, toothbrushes, and toothpaste along with balls – as well as school supplies and occasional food items to help the world’s children in need. To date, Kick for Nick has delivered more than 48,300 balls to children in more than 39 countries. The charity caught the eye of Evans’ International Account Director, Jim Wright, after meeting Nick’s father at an event and being captivated by the group’s mission.
Since the company’s founding in 1994, Evans’ CEO, Sue Evans, has imbued her value of philanthropy across the company as a key element to not just giving back to the community but in building stronger teams through cultivating a healthy work-life balance.
“We are honored to hold this event for a second year and drive even more fun and success than last year’s.” Evans’ CEO, Sue Evans said. “The spirit of fun, dynamism, and balance, as well as the value of philanthropy and giving back are at the core of our company’s philosophy and our team’s personal lives. We’re thrilled to benefit such a deserving organization as Kick for Nick while having a great time together and building an even stronger team.”
