Evans has an immediate need for bright, motivated business management consultant in our Northern Virginia office and at client sites in DC.

About the Customer

This position is focused on supporting Director and front-office management team in a range of organizational development, project planning and coordination, communications, and facilitation activities. This role works in a fast-paced environment, with frequent changes to work priorities and deadlines. The role is very focused on supporting the Director of this organization explicitly, as well as his direct-reports. In this capacity, the role has some (albeit limited) interaction with the work other Evans consultants performing within other parts of the engagement.

Desired Skills and Traits

The ideal candidate:

  • Has bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, economics, or related field required
  • At least 7 years of experience is required; ideally 7-10 years of hands-on program management, communications, strategic planning, process improvement, and/or facilitation experience, both working individually and as part of a team
  • Experience within the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is strongly desired but not required
  • PMP strongly desired but not required
  • Strong in both quantitative analysis and as well as softer, more qualitative skills such as developing strategies to complex business or program challenges
  • Enjoys changes of pace and adapts quickly to potentially competing work requirements
  • Is proactive in seeking feedback and resolving such conflicts
  • Balances multiple tasks / actions / projects at a time
  • Enjoys working independently
  • Project management experience in the federal civilian acquisition program management area
  • Experience with facilitating and/or leading meetings
  • Self-motivated and disciplined – consistent attention to detail, proactive, and strong in coordinating logistics with both small and large teams
  • Ability to pull out key messages from complex technical information (such as program, cost, engineering, aviation, or regulatory topics) and develop reports and other communication materials for a wide range of audiences
  • Creative problem solver, self-starter, ability to work well with senior leaders in the federal government
  • Strong research and critical thinking skills
  • Strong informal, written communications. Ability to understand both meaning as well as intent of writing and develop appropriate response strategies to both elements
  • Ability to work on-site in Washington DC and/or FAA Command Center in Warrenton, VA 2-4 days per week

What Position Will Entail

  • Support written communications in MS Word, MS PPT, and potentially other formats
  • Support customer executives and managers in meeting planning and administration, quality assurance of technical documentation, alternatives analysis research, and/or white papers for executive review
  • Support the as-needed requirements of the executive sponsor within AJR-X. This can include attending planning meetings with other executives and leaders, translating notes or meeting outcomes into organized and actionable next steps, or helping to contribute to brainstorming solutions to organizational and strategic issues raised within the organization
  • Support technical interchange meetings between government and contractor personnel, including the framing of agendas, taking notes, and following up on actions with the responsible action owners
  • Facilitate small (i.e. 2-3) and large (30 or more) person meetings with multiple stakeholders. This role can include both active facilitation (i.e. guiding discussion, asking probing questions, and driving the group towards alignment on next steps) as well as passive facilitation (i.e. capturing key actions, helping the group stay on topic and within time, ensuring the discussion does not veer too far off track)
