Evans has an immediate need for a bright, motivated business management consultant in our Northern Virginia office and at client sites in DC.

About the Customer

The customer oversees the development and testing of new automated aviation technology within the FAA’s NextGen Technology and Prototyping Division. Evans has been specifically supporting the Unmanned Aircraft System Traffic Management (UTM) pilot project since late 2018. The work in NextGen has increased substantially in recent months as UTM is begins to hold demo events for project stakeholders. The UTM project manager is also taking on another sub project of UTM which will require additional communications support. Key needs include strategic communications planning, stakeholder outreach, briefing creation, public speaking/talking points support, coordinating industry/outreach demo events, and cross-agency collaboration.

  • Understanding of/experience with UAS and/or aviation preferred but not required
What Position Will Entail
  • Collaborative work with client and other FAA personnel, onsite at FAA 4-5 days per week
  • Developing weekly reports for a broad audience including executives
  • Tracking and communicating key developments in the NextGen arena at FAA and externally
  • Preparing weekly bullets and participating in briefings with executives ahead of high-level UAS meetings to support cross-FAA coordination
  • Drafting talking points, briefings, and presentations for internal and external events
  • Drafting or reviewing and editing articles for internal publication
  • Attending meetings on client’s behalf and sharing key takeaways
  • Tracking many action items and helping client meet deadlines
  • Supporting oversight and tracking of implementation of FAA Reauthorization Act provisions, including coordination with executives
  • Scheduling meetings with multiple stakeholders, planning agendas, facilitating, and following up with attendees regarding actions
  • Communicating with customers at varying levels of seniority, conveying respect and instilling confidence in ability to satisfy their needs
  • Supporting liaison with external stakeholders, including auditors and recipients of briefings
  • Completing much work independently with little supervision; being proactive in identifying challenges or opportunities and proposing unique approaches
